“Stillebach is the only place in the valley with a view of the Wildspitze.”
A sentence with which we explain the geographical location of Stillebach to our guests, then as now. From the hotel terrace, you can see the highest mountain in North Tyrol, the “Wildspitze.”
Our Biohotel is located in the small hamlet of “Stillebach” in the Pitztal valley. The steep mountains are close by and convey the feeling of security that makes us feel “at home.” It is a real gem amid the beautiful Tyrolean mountain world.
The house has a long history, and we have carefully renovated many of its features. Yet, you can still feel the history of the house, and it even gives our hotel a “homely” feel. We have been serving guests at this special place for more than 90 years—and we still do so with great passion today.
Growing up in the quiet and simple valley, we have dedicated ourselves to the organic idea for many years and are the only organic hotel in the Pitztal valley.
A responsible approach toward food with a view to the bigger picture has been vital to us, not only since the takeover in 2009. “We look at the bigger picture,” meaning sustainable management in the sense of the common good. It involves a mindful approach to nature, people, and animals.
A holiday close to nature is a matter of course at our Biohotel Stillebach—without artificial staging. Stillebach offers neither great luxury nor loud entertainment. Plenty of space “to be” and small and special offers for our guests, such as storytelling evenings, farmer’s dessert by the lake, an evening snowshoe hike, or the legendary curling with Rupert. It is an encounter with nature.
The Stillebach, a place to relax, read, laugh, play, experience adventure, enjoy—a place to feel good.
Our family name “WALSER” is full of history. The “Walsers” originally came from the Valais (Switzerland) to the Pitztal valley. Our ancestors chose Stillebach to become their home. At this place a small house evolved into the inn “Wildspitzblick” over time. That’s why you still find today the appeal of a 400-year-old building at some places.
The first big renovation was done by my father Josef Walser, born in 1905. Once a humble inn it became a basis of existence for my family due to hard work, perseverance and the believe in a better future. My mother Paula and their seven children were fully integrated into the daily work. A small farming and some guests in summer were the basis of existence for our family with many children. We lived in the isolation of a high alpine valley on 1.400 m and didn’t know radio or television. We only had a weekly published “farmer’s newspaper”. That’s why we were always looking forward to meeting our guests because they had been our link to the rest of the world.
Those times have passed for a long time, but I still love to be a host. When my brother Siggi took over the Hotel in 1983, also the name changed to “Stillebacher-Hof”. Since 2009 I continue the family business together with my husband Rupert. Based on a deep conviction we decided in 2011 to change over to an organic business model and called the hotel “Biohotel Stillebach”. The Biohotel Stillebach is characterized by the charme of the 60s. We have lovingly renovated and redesigned the house.
Generous open spaces for your children. The Biohotel Stillebach is surrounded by the hotel’s own 8,000 m² wild garden area with a small mountain lake. And, of course, excellent hiking routes to surrounding alpine pastures and peaks that start directly at the hotel. Mountain adventures with summit attempt, climbing challenges, and glacier experiences. All of this in exceptional quality. Stillebach, a place to relax, read, laugh, play, experience adventure, enjoy—a place to feel good.
